Clarks (2017)

Mesh, neoprene, PLA, PU rubber

Sneaker concept for a project assigned by Clarks, combining traditional shoe making with digital modeling. The mesh upper has a neoprene lining for comfort and breath-ability. 3D printed PLA parts are heat pressed onto the upper and molded around the last, enabling support in the heel, in/outstep and toe box areas.

 

The rubber midsole is modeled in Rhino3d and CNC milled out of obomodulan. The outsole is laser cut out of EVA and attached to the midsole. Next, a silicone mold is made of this shape, to eventually make the complete sole out of silicone rubber.
